The song I chose to write my essay on is called "Breathe" written by the band, The Pardon. The song explains how California has lost its "dream" and the people and the situations that evolve in Southern California (written based on San Diego) are always make believe. The singer, Joe Miller, begins the song by talking to his girlfriend. He explains that she doesn't know half of what goes in San Diego, California. He has been living in California all his life and doesn't want his girlfriend to get hurt by California. Joe describes how is he is a wreck because of California and how he needs to get out of San Diego because California has lost its dream. I chose this song because in all honesty, it couldn't be a more honest song. Don't get me wrong, I love L.A. and will live here my whole life; but a majority of the people here have no sense of reality and the real world. My favorite line in the song is, " All the lonely people, that fall apart, right on time." The line represents the selfish ways that become habits for a lot of people who live in Southern California. Well, that is all for now. Check back for more blogs on the song and assignment.

I'm really interested in seeing how this paper turns out, mainly because I have lived, born and raised in San Diego, and I'm not sure if I've seen a lot of people who think San Diego is mostly make believe. I do NOT mean that I think this is wrong, I just haven't seen it personally and am SINCERELY interested in hearing further.

This song sounds like a very good choice for you, since you seem to agree with it's honesty about the california dream. However i challenge you to not make this essay entirely negative. Maybe approach it in a way that will require you to look at the other positive side. I look forward to seeing how your opinion and this song will mesh to create a strong argumentative essay. Look forward to your next post.
